Ohanaeze Ndigbo Asks Nigerians to Allow Supreme Court Rule on Tinubu’s Certificate

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged Nigerians to allow the Supreme Court to deliver its judgement on the Chicago University’s certificate of President Bola Tinubu.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is seeking the permission of the apex court to add the deposition of the university’s Registrar before a United States court on the certificate, to his appeal against the judgement of the presidential poll tribunal.

The Ndigbo’s apex socio cultural organization warned that continuous discussion of the authenticity of the Chicago University’s certificate, is heating up the polity and heighten tension in the country.

The organization in a statement by its Secretary General, Mazi Okchukwu Isiguzoro, admits that the discrepancy on the certificate were serious and should be investigated.

But Ohaneze warned that the issue should not be used to cause chaos, or destabilize the country.

The statement reads in part: “The Ohanaeze Ndigbo appeals to Nigerians to remain calm and wait for the outcome of the Supreme Court on the ongoing certificate saga involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We urge Nigerians to refrain from heightening tensions and overheating the polity, as this will not augur well for the country.

“The allegations of discrepancy on President Tinubu’s Chicago State University of the United States of America certificate are serious and must be thoroughly investigated. However, we caution against any attempt to use the allegations to cause chaos and instability in the country.

“We have confidence in the ability of the Supreme Court to handle the matter judiciously and arrive at a just and fair verdict. We urge Nigerians to have faith in the judicial process and allow the court to do its job without any interference.”
