Ogun Unveils Drones to Monitor Criminal Elements on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Ogun State Government has unveiled drones and patrol vehicles for the effective monitoring Of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and other crime prone areas of the state.

The drones are to be operated by the police, department of state service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NCDC) to fight crimes across the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun handed over the drones and over 25 patrol vans to the security agencies on Thursday at the arcade ground in the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

The inspector general of police, Kayode Egbetolun, who was on a three day working visit to the state since Tuesday witnessed the presentation of the equipment.

Governor Abiodun said the acquisition of the drones was one of the proactive steps taken by his administration with Lagos and Oyo state government to monitor Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for prompt response to emergencies.

He asked police to adopt technology in solving security challenges, while recalling that his administration had purchased over 100 patrol vans and over 300 communication gadgets for security agencies in the state.

The inspector general of police commended the governor for his innovative idea in purchasing the drones and asked other state governors to emulate him.

The governor, who said he was impressed with the efforts of the IG at repositioning the force for optimal performance in line with the tenet of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,  called for the integration of modern technology in tackling the various security challenges facing the nation.

In his remarks, Egbetokun said his vision was to put in place a professionally competent and service-oriented police force.

He promised that more police stations and more Area Commands would be created in Ogun State, adding that more personnel would be deployed.
