Ogun Targets Rehabilitation, Maintenance and Reconstruction of 100 Roads

Ogun State Government says it is targeting 100 roads for maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction during the second term of the Abiodun administration.

Special emphasis is to be given to internal road network linking major roads across the state.

Special Adviser to the state governor on works, Eng. Babatunde Adesina, announcing this while appearing on a Rockcity FM daybreak show, said three to five roads would be affected in each of the 20 local government areas.

The Special Adviser said the work ministry was busy collating data for the takeoff of the projects.

Adesina faulted the ten lane Abeokuta-Sagamu interchange expressway project started by the Amosun administration, saying the traffic volume on the route does not justify the project.

On the Moore Junction –Camp Road, he said federal government forced the state government to stop work on the project, on the ground it had been awarded to a contractor.

He also spoke on the Sango Ota-Abeokuta Expressway project handed over to the Ogun State Government.

According to him, the state government was still working on the modality for the reconstruction of the road whether it would be concessional or executed through the public private partnership model.
