Adebutu Promises to Initiate Talks With Aggrieved Members of Ogun PDP

The ogun state PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 polls, Honorable Oladipupo Adebutu has promised to initiate fresh moves to reconcile aggrieved members of the party in the state.

He made the pledge on Tuesday, after a certificate of return was presented to him by the PDP national chairman, Doctor Iyorchia Ayu at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Ayu says that Adebutu deserves the PDP governorship ticket, considering his immense support for the building of the PDP in Ogun state.

Adebutu, speaking to newsmen after receiving the certificate, said it had put to rest the controversy over his election at the Ogun state PDP primaries in Abeokuta last month.

The candidate said he would ensure that a total reconciliation of all aggrieved PDP leaders and members are achieved before the 2023 polls.

Already, Adebutu said he had been reaching out to some members in other political parties in the state seeking to defect to the PDP, ahead of the poll.

Meanwhile, Ogun state factional governorship candidate, Otunba Segun Sowunmi, has faulted the certificate of return issued to Adebutu as the party’s governorship candidate for the state’s 2023 polls.

Sowunmi in his reaction says the presentation of the certificate to Adebutu is lawless, recalling that PDP tried it in Ogun state in 2011, 2015 and 2019, and failed.

According to Sowunmi, with the pending litigation over the PDP ticket, the party may suffer the fate of the apc during the 2019 polls in Zamfara and Rivers states.

The factional PDP governorship candidate says it is still too early for the Adebutu supporters to jubilate, adding that he will wait for Adebutu in court.
