Ogun Security Operatives Search Forests For The Abducted Former FCE Provost

Security forces are still combing forests in Olodo axis of the Abeokuta-Ibadan road in Ogun State, in search of the kidnapped former provost of the Federal College of Education, Dr. Ayodele Ajayi, from his abductors.

Ajayi and his driver, were still in the custody of gunmen who abducted them on the evening of Tuesday at Ikija village, near Olodo.

The state police commissioner, Abiodun Alamutu in a statement by the Ogun State police command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said police, hunters, vigilante and operatives of other security agencies, are still in forests tracking the kidnappers and their victims.

The commissioner said there was no need to panic, assuring that those abducted would be rescued alive, and the kidnappers would be arrested for prosecution.

According to the commissioner, the wife of the former provost who was abandoned by the kidnappers, while fleeing from the police, is still receiving treatment in a hospital.

Also, police had recovered the car of the abducted former provost, abandoned by the kidnappers. Police promised to release an update on the rescue operations.

Suspected gunmen on Tuesday abducted Dr. Ayodele Ajayi, the immediate-past Provost of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Osiele near Abeokuta in the Odeda Local Government Area (LGA) of Ogun.

Ajayi was abducted with his wife and driver after 7 p.m. at Ikija village in the Olodo axis of the Abeokuta-Ibadan road.

It was further gathered that Ajayi’s wife was later released by the abductors, while he and his driver were taken away.

A resident of the area, who asked for anonymity, told NAN the gunmen came out of the bush to attack Ajayi and other motorists along the road.
