Ogun Assembly Calls For Amotekun Deployment to Schools, Following Ritual Killing Of Pupil

Ogun State House of Assembly has called for the immediate deployment of personnel of Amotekun Corps to primary and secondary schools across the state.

The speaker, Oludaisi Elemide, made the call during the Thursday plenary of the house, following the report of the ritual killing of a public primary school pupil within the premises of the school in the Ijebu North East.

The body of the pupil who left the classroom for a toilet within the school was found minutes later mutilated.

A member of the house, Honorable Oluseun Adesanya tabled the report during the plenary.

The speaker said there was an urgent need to deploy local security operatives who understand the terrain of the schools to protect the pupils from kidnappers and ritualists.

Another member, Adeniran Ademola reported the encroachment of the landed property of the Mayflower School, Ikenne.

Following the report, the speaker asked the state education ministry to conduct an assessment of public schools to determine the level of encroachment on their landed properties.

In another development, the Ogun State Assembly has directed the State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, as well as the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), to conduct an assessment of all public schools to determine the level of encroachment on their landed properties and to checkmate such illegal acts for the safety of the school pupils.

Speaker Elemide issued the directive in response to the submission of Hon. Ademola Adeniran, who lamented the level of encroachment on the premises of Mayflower School, Ikenne, when he visited the institution recently.

The Speaker noted that how public schools were being encroached on by private developers could result in security breaches in the public schools.

He applauded the old student associations for their efforts at providing complementary infrastructural facilities to aid the security and convenience of the students in some of the schools in the state.
