Gunmen Kill another Monarch in Ekiti Axis of Kwara

Gunmen have killed another monarch in the Ekiti axis of Kwara state.

The gunmen invaded Koro in the Ekiti local government area of the state at its border with Kogi state on Thursday night.

They invaded the Palace of Oba Segun Aremu-Cole and shot him dead.

The wife of the monarch and two other persons were also taken away by the gunmen.

The killing of the monarch increased to three within a week, in the wake of the killing of two other monarchs in the neighboring Ekiti state last Sunday.

Spokesman of the state police command, Toun Ejire Adeyemi confirmed the incident on Friday morning, adding that security has been beefed up in the area.

The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable.

He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.

Ajakaiye further quoted the governor as saying, We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity.

My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always, the statement said.

However, the Kwara State Police Commissioner, Victor Olaiya, was yet to respond to an inquiry on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
