Ogun Assembly Approves the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework Strategy Bill

Ogun State House of Assembly has approved the state’s 2024-2026 medium term expenditure framework strategy paper bill.

The bill was submitted to the lawmakers by Governor Dapo Abiodun, ahead of his presentation of the state’s proposed 2024 budget bill to the house, last week.

The approval of the bill followed the submission of a report by the Chairman of the House Finance and Appropriation Committee, Musefou Lamidi during the plenary of the assembly.

He was seconded by the minority leader, Lukman Adeleye.

The majority leader, Yusuf Sheriff moved the motion for approval of the bill, and it was supported by other lawmakers through the voice vote.

With the approval of the MTEF bill, the coast is now clear for the consideration of the proposed 2024 budget.

Mr Tella explained that qualitative development required bottom-up approach, with rural areas and semi-urban as focus, while canvassing for allocation of forty percent of resources meant for infrastructural development to be channelled to the development of rural areas in the State.

Corroborating the Sponsor, other lawmakers including the Speaker of the house of assembly, mr Olakunle Oluomo, Minority Leader Mr Lukman Adeleye, Adebisi Oyedele, Lawal Adekunle, Oluseun Adesanya, Adegoke Adeyanju and Folawewo Salami, stated that the bill was targeted towards promoting even development in all parts of the State, as rural communities costituted over 90% part of the State.

They posited that rural communities in the State required more government’s presence to advance development, boost food production and create more employment opportunities.
