Ogun state ruling party, the APC, and the leading opposition, the PDP are accusing each other over the death of an ad-hoc official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Emmanuel Adeniran.

Adeniran was attacked by political thugs while on duty at a polling unit in Ogijo during the march 18 governorship and state house of assembly poll.

He was rushed to a hospital for treatement, but died three days after he was discharged from the hospital.

Ogun state PDP, Ladi Adebutu was the first to accuse thugs of the APC for being responsible for the death of the INEC official, alleging that he was killed because he refused to alter the results of votes cast at the polling unit.

Adebutu speaking at  a meeting of the conference of political parties for good governance in Abeokuta , said the late INEC staff managed to upload the results of the polls into the INEC result viewing platform before his death.

He said that inec should not be blamed for anomalies in the conduct of,polls, but the bad eggs among the INEC staff who must be fished out and prosecuted

But the apc accused the pdp of been behind the attack on the inec official.

The state spokesman, Tunde Oladunjoye in a release said the state PDP governorship candidate ought to have been killed over the death of the inec staff.

Oladunjoye alleged that the inec staff died as a result of attack by the PDP thugs during the march 18 polls.

Adebutu, according to the APC spokesman, hurriedly paid a visit to the families of the late INEC staff in order to obstruct polIce investigation.

He asked the state polce command to get to the root of the death of INEC to ensure justice.
