Mutfwang Imposes 24-Hour Curfew on Mangu LGA, Following Security Situation

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Mangu local government area, following the deteriorating security situation.

Spokesman to the Governor, Gyang Bere, said the decision was taken after consultations with the relevant security agencies in the state.

The Governor regretted that some people are bent on creating disturbances, despite efforts of his administration to end terrorists’ attacks in the area.

Meanwhile, Armed Security Operatives have fired tear gas to disperse 16 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the state House of Assembly sacked by the appeal court.

The PDP lawmakers in defiance of their sack by the appeal court has said they would report at the state assembly to attend plenary.

The security operatives teargassed them and their supporters when they invaded the assembly premises on Tuesday.

Led by Ishaku Maren, the sacked lawmakers are claiming that the Supreme Court judgment, which validated the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, had also qualified them to remain members of the assembly.

The latest in the string of attacks was on last Christmas Eve when dark-hearted assailants conducted blood-curling simultaneous attacks on communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the the state.

The attacks claimed over 200 lives with hundreds of houses and farmlands burnt. That the assailants were not repelled by security agents irked many Nigerians.
