Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Project To Be Completed Next Month – Works Minister Dave Umahi

Works Minister Dave Umahi has said the ongoing construction of the 127.6 kilometres Lagos-Ibadan expressway project would be completed next month

Most sections of the road are in Ogun State.

He assured that the project will be delivered by mid-September, after several missed deadlines.

The minister gave fresh completion deadline, while visiting the ongoing federal projects in Lagos State.

He also visited the reconstructed Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, deep Seaport Project at Lekki and Others in Lagos-Ogun States corridor

Umahi also inspected the newly partially rehabilitated Eko bridge, promising to mobilize for special fund for permanent rehabilitation.

The newly-appointed minister started his inspection tour at outer Marina Road located on Victoria Island, a project constructed under the SUKUK financing option by the FG.

The former governor of Ebonyi State later moved to the newly rehabilitated Eko Bridge before proceeding to Ijora Olopa, the Lagoon section of Eko Bridge and Apapa.

Umahi was then briefed by officials of the ministry of works and contractors handling different projects on that axis of Lagos state.

Meanwhile, Umahi recently said that roads constructed while he was the Ebonyi state governor would last 50 years without maintenance.

Umahi, who was sworn in, among 44 other Ministers, last week Monday, stated this on Thursday in an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

According to him, roads in the country should be constructed according to Nigeria’s temperature and also quality should be looked at at all times.
