ISWAP Fighters Destroy High Tension Electricity Tower Linking Borno and Yobe with National Grid

The Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group has destroyed another 330kv high tension electricity transmission line along Maiduguri Damaturu highway in the northeast region.

A counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in lake Chad, Zagazogo Makama, made this known on Thursday on his X post.

According to him, the power facility was destroyed by the insurgents in the early hours of Thursday between Yanayakiri-Garin Kuturu axis of the highway in the Jokanna General Area.

Last December 21, Boko Haram terrorist group also destroyed two major electricity towers around Katsaita village.

The December 21 attack plunged Borno and Yobe states into blackout for hours.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst in the Lake Chad region, provided details of the recent incident on Thursday.

The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists have destroyed another 330KVA high-tension transmission line along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway, Makama wrote on X.

The incident occurred in the early hours of December 28, 2023, at about 0700hours between Yanayakiri-Garin Kuturu in the Jakana general area.

Also, according to Makama, the terrorists planted an explosive around the vicinity, which killed an NSCDC officer.
