Independent Marketers Say NNPC Increases Supply of Petrol, Ask Motorists to Stop Panic Buying

Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has asked motorists to stop panicky buying of petrol.

The association on Tuesday said that Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has started increasing supply of then product.

IPMAN Vice President, James Tor, speaking on a television program, said IPMAN President told him that NNPCL had opened up some of its depots to release more products to marketers.

He assured that the growing queues at filling stations would ease any moment from now.

Earlier, NNPCL has assured that the petrol scarcity and queue at filling stations would be cleared by Wednesday.

NNPCL Chief Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, speaking in Lagos on Tuesday, said the company at the moment has in stock more than 1.5 billion liters of petrol, which could last for at least 30 days.

He blamed the current disruption in petrol in the past three days on logistics problems which has been resolved.

Soneye, however, said in Nigeria, it takes double times to restore Nirmakl supply whenever there was a disruption in the petrol sector value chain.

The NNPCL spokesman also said some people are taken advantage of the situation to maximize profits.
