House Of Reps Asks Tinubu To Lift Embargo On Recruitment Into Federal Civil Service

House of Representatives has asked federal government to lift the embargo on recruitment into Federal Civil Service.

The lawmakers passed the resolution, following adopting a motion sponsored by a member, Francis Waive.

Waive in his lead debate recalled that Buhari Administration placed the embargo during the economic recession when oil prices dropped sharply in the world market and due to the covid pandemic.

He also said that Buhari administration ignored the resolution of the ninth National Assembly to lift the embargo, adding that this had resulted into shortage of junior and middle cadre of staff in the Federal Civil Service.

The House directed its public service matter, labour and employments to work on the resolution and report back within four weeks.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has also confirmed the service chiefs recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Their confirmation followed the adoption of the report of the House ADHOC Committee which screened the new service chiefs appointed by Tinubu on June 19, 2023.

The Service Chiefs confirmed are major General Christopher Musa (Chief of Defence Staff), Major General. Taoreed Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff), and Air Vice Marshall Hassan Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).

On Monday, the green chamber commenced the screening of the service chiefs days after the red chamber confirmed the appointment of the military chiefs.

A special prayers have been held in Bauchi State to seek divine intervention to end the acute shortage of rain in the state.

The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilawni Adamu, led one of the special prayers at the Eid praying ground in Bauchi metropolis.

Other prayers were held by the Izala sect at the sect’s praying ground in the city.

Also, leader of Jibwis sect in the state, Garba Hassan directed all its leaders across the state to mobilize members for prayers for en end to the dry spell in the state.
