Governor Abiodun Presents Ogun 2024 N703 Billion Budget to State House of Assembly

Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented the Ogun state’s 2024 N703.02 billion budget bill to the State House of Assembly.

The 2024 budget is christened ‘the budget of sustained growth and development.

The breakdown of the budget shows that Capital Expenditure is allocated N415 billion, while recurrent expenditure takes N287 billion.

According to the Governor, N287 billion in recurrent expenditure, including N95.05 billion for Personnel Costs, Consolidated Revenue (N27.35 billion), Public Debt Charges (N59.09 billion), and N105.8 billion for the Overhead.

To finance the budget, the Governor said his administration is expecting N210.2 billion from its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR); as well as, N26.2 billion from allocation from Federation Account and Capital Receipts.

Further breakdown of the N703.02 billion budget, indicates that N109.21 billion is allocated to Education; N81.18 billion to Health and Housing, N28.88 billion to Community Development, and N14.21 billion to Agriculture.

Other major votes are Infrastructure (N209.1 billion), Legislature (N14.4 billion), Judiciary (N7.02 billion), General Public Affairs (N34.9 billion), General Public Service/Pension Services (N1.9 billion), Economic Affairs (N3.08 billion), Statewide (N104.1 billion), and General Public Service Executive Organ (N31.12 billion).

To ensure speedy passage of the 2024 Appropriation Bill, I have directed all Commissioners, Accounting Officers, and Heads of Agencies to be personally available for the budget defense, Abiodun said.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, assured that the lawmakers would ensure scrutiny of the proposed budget to ensure a timely passage of the budget in line with the standard practice of the state legislature.
