Federal MDAs to Reserve Five Percent of Their Employment Slots to People with Disabilities
The Federal Government is to implement a policy that will make its ministries, departments, and agencies reserve five percent of their employment slots for people with disabilities.
The president’s special assistant on people with disability, Mohammed Abba-Isa, announced this in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, at a meeting with people with disabilities and stakeholders.
He said that a circular had been sent from the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, asking the MDAs to comply with the policy and come out on how they intend to implement it.
The policy, according to him, would help to reduce the number of people roaming the streets begging for alms.
He also said that the federal government is constructing skills acquisition centers in the country’s six zones for people with disabilities.

That is the only way you can even get some out of begging and Mr President will marshal out planned strategies for this.
“A circular has been sent out from the office of the SGF and my office for them to comply. We have a policy on the ground already, the issue is the barrier to that policy; how to implement that policy.”
He also hinted at constructing skills acquisition centers in the six geo-political zones of the country where persons with disabilities can acquire skills.
