94M Eligible Voters On Voter Register For 2023 Polls – INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it now has 94 million eligible voters on its register for the 2023 polls.

The elections are to be contested by 12,163 candidates at 176,846 polling units in 1,491 constituencies nationwide.

INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, made this known in Washington DC in the US at a forum organized by the National Endowment for Democracy.

He told the forum that each time Nigerians go to the poll, it is like all ECOWAS countries voting.

According to INEC Chairman, the eligible voters on its register increased from 84 million for the 2019 polls to 94 million due to the 10 million fresh registrants in the just concluded continuous voter registration.

Yakubu explains that the 94 million voters on the INEC register are 22 million more than the entire voters registered in the other 14 West African countries.

Recall that we reported that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has deleted 2.7 million new registrants in its recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
