Deputy Police Commissioner Found Hanging in His Private House in Ogbomosho

A deputy police commissioner, Gbolahan Oyedemi, has allegedly committed suicide.

The officer attached to Federal Criminal and Investigations Department (FCID) Lagos, was found hanging in his private home on Tuesday morning, at Ogbomosho, Oyo state.

He had travelled from Lagos to his hometown, Ogbomosho to spend his Easter holiday.

The 50 year old late deputy police commissioner, was an aide-camp of the late Governor Alao Akala.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for FCID, Aminat Mayegun, faulted the rumor that the police officer committed suicide.

She said the department would investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

All efforts to get the reaction of the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful, as his mobile number was unreachable.

However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed Oyedemi’s death.

Funmilayo further said the circumstances surrounding his death were still sketchy.

No one can tell specifically what the cause of his death is until an investigation is carried out. There is no official statement from the Inspector General of Police yet.

So, I won’t be able to tell you anything about it for now. No official statement is approved by the IG, she added.
