CAF Releases Deadline for the 2023 AFCON Squad lists Submission

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has informed the twenty-four teams participating in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) that the squad lists for the tournament held in Ivory Coast must be submitted by January 3, 2024, at the latest.

It has been decided that each country can name a maximum of twenty-seven players on the roster.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) can name the usual 23 players on the Super Eagles roster and have been given an option to include four additional players, bringing it to a maximum of 27 players.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) must submit a provisional squad containing 55 players to the Confederation of African Football within the next twenty-one days, with December 14 set as the deadline.

For the 2021 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, each team was permitted to name a roster with 28 players due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The kickoff date for the 34th Africa Cup of Nations is January 3, 2024, while the final will take place at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan on February 11.

Three-time African champions Nigeria will trade tackles with hosts Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea in Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has announced that he will release the provisional list of players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) latest on December 14th.

As per the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Nigeria and the other 23 participating nations must submit their provisional lists by the specified date.

CAF has also expanded the squad size for the 2023 AFCON finals, allowing each team to name a maximum of 27 players, an increase from the usual 23.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will have until January 3, 2024, to finalize their roster for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
