Bishop Mathew Kukah Urges Tinubu to Address Challenges Inherited by His Administration

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Kukah has asked President Tinubu to find solution to the challenges inherited by his administration.

The cleric asked Tinubu to use the wealth of his experience to end the ethnic, regional and religious crisis in the country.

Kukah in his Christmas message on Monday said Tinubu would have no excuse not to solve Nigeria’s problems after plotting for more than 20 years to become Nigeria’s president.

He recalled how Tinubu campaigned vigorously for restructuring and overhauling of Nigeria, fought military doctorships and other forms of dictatorship in his quest for an egalitarian society.

The catholic bishop called for urgent steps by Tinubu to achieve the elusive reconciliation and healing of injuries which are not visible.

Kukah also stated that the government’s distribution of palliatives could not address Nigeria’s deep and structured problems.

He addressed the President, urging an immediate cessation of the killings of Nigerians. Kukah emphasized the need to halt senseless killings, abductions, extortions, and kidnappings, advocating for the restoration of the sacredness and sanctity of human life.

He asserted that blasphemy laws have no place in a democracy and called for an end to such practices. Kukah demanded the identification and punishment of those responsible for taking lives, advocating for the institutionalization of a culture of compensation for victims.

He stressed the importance of states taking full responsibility, with criminals and their accomplices being brought to justice, and concluded by highlighting the unsustainable nature of the current situation.

Kukah called on President Tinubu to get rid of dubious people in the public service whom he said have turned the opportunity to serve into an ignoble enterprise.
