Bandits Abduct Benue Commissioner from His Country Home

Armed bandits have abducted Benue State’s Information, Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Matthew Aba.

He was abducted on Sunday, which has been the hotbed of attacks by gunmen in recent months.

Meanwhile, the witnesses said he was abducted by gunmen who rode on four motorcycles to his residence.

Also, a former Chief Press Secretary to a former governor, Tahav Agerzua, said the gunmen abducted the commissioner after ordering members of his family to lie face down.

According to him, the commissioner was forced at gunpoint to sit behind the rider of one of the motorcycles, sandwiched by one of the gunmen.

Hyacinth Alia, Kula Tersoo, confirmed the incident, saying, “Unfortunately, he (commissioner) was kidnapped in his country home in Ukum LGA, around 8 pm on, Sunday, September 24, 2023.

“We received the unfortunate development and His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Alia has already directed and detailed the security operatives to ensure his safe release from the kidnappers den.”

Abo was sworn in as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29th, 2023.

Meanwhile, there is no confirmation of the kidnap incident yet from the Benue State Police Command.
