Anxiety in Ogun APC and PDP Camps, As Supreme Court Sets To Rule on Disputed Governorship Poll

The situation in camps of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State was tense on Monday, as the Supreme Court picked a date for its judgement on the state’s March 18, 2023 governorship poll.

The apex court is expected to deliver on Thursday, its judgement on the appeal filed by the PDP candidate in the poll, Honorable Ladi Adebutu, who is challenging the declaration of Prince Dapo Abiodun of the APC as the winner of the poll.

The Appeal Court in Lagos, on November 24, 2023, had in a split judgement dismissed Adebutu’s appeal against the verdict of the state poll petition tribunal, which upheld the election of Governor Abiodun.

The appellate court dismissed Adebutu’s allegations of over-voting, gross misconduct, and disenfranchisement of his supporters during the poll which he, claimed he won with over 50,000 votes.
