Alake Laments Less Enrollment In Leventis Foundation Scholarship Award

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has expressed concern that most of students of Egba origin in polytechnics and universities are not showing enough interests in the 2022 Leventis Foundation scholarship awards.

A little over 100 of the students applied for the award this year.

The monarch expressing his concern at the Ake palace last Wednesday, noted that the number of applicants reduced despite the increase in subvention for the endowment fund.

According to the Alake, the increased funding for the 2022 edition was from the Leventis group, himself, all sections of Egbaland, corporate bodies to the fund.

He urges the standing committee of the Leventis scholarship to ensure that at least 300 qualified students benefited from the 2023/24 edition of the award.

Honorary secretary of the Leventis scholarship, professor Ajao Adelekan, revealed that over 100 applied, while only 62 returned the application forms.

He, however, said that all the 62 who returned the forms were recommended for the scholarship.
