Governor Dapo Abiodun has described the litigation on the 2023 Ogun State Governorship Poll, which ended last week, at the Supreme Court as an unnecessary distraction for his administration.

With his victory at Nigeria’s apex court, the Governor said he had put the issues behind him and moved ahead.

The Governor stated this at a thanksgiving service to mark his victory at the Supreme Court, held at Saint James Anglican Church, Iperu Remo on Sunday.

Abiodun said with the apex court judgment, his administration would use the rest of three years and four months of his second term, to implement sustainable legacy projects to create more jobs, and individual prosperity, and promote the well-being and welfare of the people.

He thanked President Tinubu for backing his political journey since 2018 and the Supreme Court justices for upholding the rule of law.

In his sermon, the Bishop of Remo Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Olusina Fape, congratulated the Governor for his victory at the Supreme Court adding that, he should not take the victory for granted.

The bishop also asked the governor to avoid in-fighting with political gladiators but should depend on God for a good successor in 2027.

Speaking on the topic: God who has begun a good work will complete it and taking his text from Philippians 1:3 to 6, the Bishop noted that the governor did well in his first term by touching every part of the State with developmental projects through the ISEYA mantra.

He urged him not to dwell on the success of the past four years but to strive to surpass it so that he would be celebrated at the end of his administration.

According to Bishop Fape, the affordable houses, good road networks, and the airport, which has put the state on the world map of air travel, are highly commendable.

While praying for the success of the second term, the Bishop charged Governor Abiodun not to be distracted but to remain focused as there was still a lot of ground to cover.

The thanksgiving service was attended by dignitaries, including traditional rulers, past state governors, and deputy governors, as well as leaders of trade associations, religious leaders, and captains of industry.
