25 Passengers Burnt to Death in Fatal Auto Crash in Kogi

A fatal auto crash in Kogi state left 25 passengers dead, most of them burnt to death on Sunday.

The tragic incident occurred at Aloma in Ofu local government area, when a Toyota Sienna bus collided with a Toyota HiAce bus and an articulated vehicle

The collision occurred while the two buses were negotiating a pot hole opposite Aloma Technical College.

The two buses collided and crashed into a parked articulated vehicle.

In the process, the three vehicles caught fire, burning all the passengers in the two buses to death.

An articulated vehicle that was packed near the scene of the accident also caught fire in the process and was burnt to ashes. A house close to the area was also destroyed by the raging inferno.

We are yet to confirm if there is any survivor, except those in the packed articulated vehicle, he said.

According to him, the villagers could not do anything to rescue the trapped passengers because of the absence of combustible fighting equipment.

When the Kogi State Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Samuel Ayodeji, was contacted, he could not respond because of a meeting of the command.
