Yuletide: Abiodun Urges Nigerians to be Hopeful

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has urged Nigerians to be conscious of people around them, who are struggling with one challenge or the other, as they celebrate Christmas.

According to the Governor, Christmas period holds significance beyond the celebration and euphoria of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Governor spoke during the Ogun state Christmas Carol and services of nine lesson held at the arcade ground, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to him, Christmas period provides an opportunity for sober reflection and thanksgiving, and the need to be their brother’s keeper.

He also asked Nigerians to renew their faith in God, and hope for a better future as challenges facing the country are surmountable.

He asked them not to lose sight of the values which define them as a people but continues to love one another.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in his sermon, taking his text from john chapter 8, verse 32, said God is the ultimate authority, controlling the earth and times.

According to the cleric, God can repair or recreate what he created.

Dignitaries at the event, included the state’s first lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; Deputy Speaker Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Former President Obasanjo and his wife, Bola; Former Governor Olusegun Osoba and Former Military Administrator, Oladeinde Joseph and Daniel Akintonde.

Others were former Deputy Governors Salimot Badru, Yetunde Onanuga, Gbenga Kaka, and former Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the UK, Sarafadeen Isola.

Also at the event were top traditional rulers including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Batunde Ajayi and the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle.
