Wire Fraud: Biodun’s Ex Aide Jailed By US Court

Abidemi Rufai, the suspended Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun, has been jailed by a US Court, for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

He was jailed for attempting to steal nearly $2.4 million from the US Government.

The US district judge, Benjamin Settle, in his judgment said what motivated Abidemi were greed and callousness towards those who suffer.

The US Attorney office of the western district of Washington D.C made this known in a statement by the US Attorney, Nick Brown.

According to the statement, Rufai stole identities information of more than 20,000 Americans to submit more than $2 million claim for disaster benefits and fraudulent tax return.

The suspended special assistant had been in custody since he was arrested in May 2021 at the New York JFK airport.
