Two Killed in Renewed Cultists Attacks in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital

Two suspected cultists have been killed in the renewed rivalry clashes between Eiye and Aye cult groups in Abeokuta, causing fresh panic in the Ogun state capital.

The two killings on Sunday at Alogi in Obantoko and Bode Olude, were regarded as reprisal attacks for the last month’s killing of a member of Eiye confraternity in the city.

The first attack on Sunday, occurred at Bode Olude on Sunday afternoon, when a group of cultists chased a member of a rival cult group through Miliki intersection and Elega to Dokpanu.

The cultists later cornered their victim, shot dead and stone used to crush his skull.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odulate confirming the incident, said the divisional police officers in Adatan and Elega visited the scene.

The body of the slain cultists was evacuated to the morgue of the state hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.

Later on, Sunday, another group of cultists killed a suspected member of a rival cult group at Alogi, Obantoko at around 4 P.M.

The victim was hacked to death with a deep cult on his skull, and left him in his pool of blood.

Since January this year, several people had died in the renewed cultists attacks in the city.

The first victim, a suspected member of the Eiye cult group, was shot dead at Alogi junction in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta while the second victim, a member of the Aye confraternity group, who was identified as Timo Olukayode, was killed at Bode-Olude, also in Abeokuta.

The police spokesman in the state, Omolola Odutola, said she had not been briefed on the incident.

She promised to get back to our correspondent immediately she received information on the killings from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area.
