Troops of 192 battalions of the Army 81 division have intercepted trans-border smugglers with a large quantity of substance, suspected to be cannabis, near Ogun state’s border with Benin Republic.

The interception of 192 big wraps of the illicit drug was made aboard a vehicle marked APP 129 EF on Sunday at the Balogun Border.

Army spokesman, Brigadier Onyema Nwachukwu announcing the seizure said the troops rejected an N12 million bribe offer, to allow two suspects found in the vehicle to go.

He named the suspects as 54-year-old Adigun Olatunji and 18-year-old Micheal Atanda, both from Imeko Afon, but residing in Benin Republic.

Nwachukwu said they brought the illicit drug into Nigeria through the Ilara Border in Ogun state and were heading to Ifo, near Abeokuta.
