Nigerian songstress, Teni, recently injected some humor into the aftermath of Davido‘s loss to South African singer Tyla at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Taking to her Instagram account on Monday, February 5, 2024, Teni playfully warned South Africa’s football team about the impending challenge they’ll face against Nigeria at the AFCON match scheduled for Wednesday.

In her comical warning, Teni teased that Nigeria’s team would make South Africa dance amapiaono on the field, cleverly blending sports banter with music references.

She couldn’t help but blame the Grammy Awards for potentially dampening the celebratory spirit in Nigeria, questioning if they were trying to kill our groove.

Expressing mock concern, Teni humorously emphasized the inconvenience caused by the Grammy Awards results, lamenting, Wahala wa o, there’s a problem.

She highlighted the abundance of parties scheduled for the evening, including her attendance at five, before comically addressing South Africa’s footballers, playfully passing the ball to them by saying, Osimhen over to you, Lookman.

Teni’s lighthearted post comes in the wake of Davido’s loss in all three Grammy-nominated categories, along with other Nigerian artists such as Burna Boy, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr, who also fell short in their respective categories at the prestigious award show.

While the losses sparked varied reactions among Nigerians on social media, Teni chose to redirect her energy towards the upcoming football match between Nigeria and South Africa, injecting some much-needed levity into the situation.
