Sharia Police Intercepts a Truck Load of Alcoholic Beverages in Zaria
The sharia police in Kano state have intercepted a truck loaded with assorted alcoholic beverages on the new year day along Zaria Road.
24,000 bottles of the alcoholic beverage were seized from the truck on Monday night.
Director General of the State Hisbah Board, Alhaji Abba Sufi announced this while inspecting the seized truck at the board headquarters in Kano.
He said the owner of the goods fled in the process and after attempting to bribe its personnel but was resisted.
The board acting assistant commander general in-charge of intelligence crimes dispatch unit, Fouad Dorayi Saud the truck driver and two other persons were arrested in the truck.

Sufi said Hisbah Corps in the state had been enforcing zero tolerance on the smuggling of beer and intoxicated substances into Kano through its neighbouring state boundaries and would not relent in the fight.
The spokesperson of the board, Lawan Ibrahim Fagge, in a statement quoted the DG to have commended the effort of his Corps against smugglers of beer into the state as the state had adopted the Islamic Sharia legal system.
He called on people to always report to the board any vehicle carrying suspected products, particularly, on Kano/Zaria Road, Kano/Dayi Mulufashi Road, Kano/Katsina Road, Kano/Maiduguri Road and Kano/Hadejia Road, among others.
