OOU Vice Chancellor Okays Proposed Student Loan, Wants Effective Implementation

The Vice Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-iwoye (OOU), Professor Ayodeji Agboola, has backed the proposed student loan.

The Vice Chancellor said if properly implemented, the proposed loan would help to drastically reduce the rising number of students dropping out yearly from Nigeria’s university system.

Agboola speaking to newsmen after his investiture as the Vice Chancellor of the university, described the initiative of the Tinubu administration as a worthy development.

He, however, called for effective implementation to ensure the sustenance of the loan programme.

Using his university as an example, the Vice Chancellor said 2,000 out of every 10,000 students dropped out yearly, or apply for a leave of absence, due to financial problems.
