Ogun State Government has kick-started the process of a free surgical scheme for residents of the state, requiring surgical intervention.

At least, 70,000 residents of the state are to benefit from the free surgical service being provided by the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA).

Those to benefit include 20,000 pregnant women, 20,000 market women, and 30,000 poor persons.

The free surgery service was also available for others who needed the service.

The agency’s executive secretary, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, flagging off the program on Monday at the state hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, said the surgical operations would begin today.

Doctor Dosunmu asked all residents in the state, requiring surgical service to visit the state hospitals and enroll for the free service.
