More Than 100 Million People In India Are Diabetic

A new study published in lancet has found that more than 100 million people in India – 11.4% of the country’s population – are living with diabetes.

The study commissioned by the health ministry also found that 136 million people – or 15.3% of the people – were living with pre-diabetes.

Diabetes is a disorder in which the pancreas is unable to produce insulin.

The latest study, denotes that in the lancet diabetes and endocrinology, is likely to be the first to comprehensively.

Researchers said they found that the prevalence of diabetes in india’s population was much higher than previously estimated.

The study warned of a sharp rise in diabetes in states like uttar pradesh, madhya pradesh, bihar and arunachal pradesh where the prevalence was lower.
