Manhunt for Escaped Inmates from Ijebu Ode Custodial Centre in Ogun

Manhunt has been launched for inmates who escaped during a jail break at the Ijebu Ode custodial center in Ogun state.

Three of the inmates escaped by scaling the fence of the facility.

The Nigerian correctional service lists the name of the fleeing on mates as Hammed Adeboyejo; Fatai Akanda and Aliu Oguntona.

Spokesman of the State Command of the Service, Victor Oyeleke confirming the incident to newsmen on Tuesday in Abeokuta, said the convicted inmates escaped from the facility at 3 am on Saturday.

He said that a search party has been constituted to track the fleeing inmates, adding that the service has their biometric and families contacts.

The spokesman said Hameed Adebayo was convicted of an armed robbery, Fatai Akande and Aliu Oguntona for murder and sexual offences.

The escape is confirmed. It happened in the early hours of Saturday at about 3 a.m.

A search party to bring the three of them back has been raised.

We are working with sister agencies and in good time they will be brought back, he told the News Agency of Nigeria.
