The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson, is to be buried on Friday, December 8, 2023, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

Before her death, she had instructed that there should be no drumming at her burial events.

According to the program, December 1 to December 6 would be dedicated to various interest groups, professional bodies, and associations to visit and celebrate the Late Iyalode for her impactful life.

On December 7, the final burial program will begin with a Christian Wake-Keep/Night of Tributes at Marquee Event Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Library, Kuto by 4 pm, strictly by invitation.

The final funeral service will be held in December with a church service at the Cathedral of Saint James African Church, Idi Ape, and Abeokuta by 10 A.M., strictly by invitation.

Interment which is strictly for the family of the Late Iyalode, will hold immediately after the church service.

Chief Abiola says there will be a live telecast of the December 8 final burial program on DSTV, GOTV channel 100, Star Times channel 113, and 25 UHF, as well as, a live broadcast on OGBC FM Radio Station.

This is, however, not to say that people will not be given what to eat but it would have been packaged and handed over to the people; that’s how it has been arranged and planned.
