Four Killed In Renewed Cultists’ Rivalry Clashes in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital

Four suspected cultists have been killed in renewed cultists’ rivalry clashes in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

The killings started last Thursday with the killing of a suspected leader of the Eiye Confraternity at the Ijeja axis of the city in front of his house.

Later on Sunday, another suspected cultist leader, Tayo Alora, was shot dead at Isabo, also in the city.

Later on Sunday night, a suspected member of the Buccaneer community was also shot dead at Osungboye Crescent in the Akin Olugbade area. Another suspected cultist was shot in the area.

Also on Sunday, a suspected top member of the Aye Confraternity, identified as Seun Elewode, was shot dead in the Asese area of Lafenwa, also in Abeokuta.

Spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said many suspected cultists had been picked up by the police over the killings.

“One Seun Elewode, a notorious member of the Aye cult group who just returned from prison was attacked and shot dead at Adeun, Lafenwa in Abeokuta,” she said

“He was shot dead during a shoot out at their hideout in a cool spot during a birthday party.

“On February, 4 around 10.45 pm in Oshungboye crescent in Akinolugbade, a suspected cultist was shot dead, while another was shot in the chest,” Odutola said.

She listed those arrested to include: Oluga Abiola, Olamilekan Abiodun, Olarenwaju Michael, Jimoh Okewole, and Wasu Tolulope.
