Body of a Missing 12-Year-Old Boy, Found Five Days after Missing in Abeokuta

The body of a 12 year old boy, serving as an apprentice in a barber shop at Obantoko Axis of Abeokuta, has been found, five days after he was declared missing.

The decomposed body of the boy has reached an advanced stage of decay.

The body was found inside a bush at Kotogbo on Monday evening, six days after he was declared missing at the neighboring Olasunkanmi Community, close to the OGD Housing Estate, Asero.

The boy who assists his master to operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) in a barbing salon at Olasunkani last Thursday was approached by a friend of his master who transacted N60,000 in four tranches.

The master later reported that the boy had absconded with the N60,000 and N35,000 he kept with him, leading to a manhunt for him.

The boy’s master later reported the mother of the boy to the police for allegedly harassing him over the disappearance of the boy, and the police declared the woman also wanted.

But the woman visited a native doctors, after she claimed that police failed to assist her in investigating her missing son.

The mother claimed that the native doctor told her that the boy was not missing, but kidnapped with the alleged connivance of his boss, and that the boy was in the environment.

This led the community to take over the matter with the police leading to a fresh search for the boy on Monday, leading to the location of his lifeless body in a bush on Monday evening.

The leader of youth in the community, Adesina Olatunni, spoke to a Rockcity FM correspondent, Yemi Eniola, how they manage to locate the body of the missing boy.

The body had been evacuated for autopsy.
