The paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has asked Nigerians to stop purchasing Chinese Adire fabric.

He said the Chinese Adire fabric is of low quality, cheap and colourful, but it is fake Adire fabric.

The Alake of Egbaland made the call on Tuesday, while addressing a news conference in his Ake Palace, Abeokuta, ahead of the takeoff of his eightieth birthday anniversary celebration, on Friday in the Ogun State Capital.

The monarch urged the Nigeria Customs Service to raid the Adire Market in Ogun State, and impound the fake Adire fabric, which according to him, was destroying Nigerian culture.

He also expressed concern over the state of security in Egbaland, and asked parents to start exposing their children, who are involved in cultism, money making rituals, drug abuse and other crimes to quit.

The Alake said in the various meetings he had with traditional medicine practitioners in Egbaland, he had warned any of them involved in making such rituals for youths, to desist from the act.

He asked security agencies to go against such Traditional Medicine Practitioners and prosecute them.

According to the monarch, traditional medicine practitioners must respect human lives in the practice of their profession.
