Abiodun Says Ogun Will Continue To Give Equal Treatment to All Religious Bodies Operating In the State

Governor Dapo Abiodun says Ogun state will continue to give equal treatment to all religious bodies operating in the state.

He said that Ogun State is committed to religious tolerance as the religious capital of Nigeria, hosting the headquarters of Muslim and Christian organizations.

The governor stated this while receiving the leadership of the Ansar-Udeen Society at the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the consideration influenced his appointment as a consultant on Islamic affairs.

According to him, the appointment was done to ensure that issues of religion could be channeled to him so that they could be handled without bias.

He called on the society to work with his administration to address social ills in society for a better society.

The society’s national president, Dr. Sanusi, condemned the get-rich attitude of the youths, leading them into cultism, kidnapping, fraud, and money rituals.

He said they paid the visit to intimate the governor on the programs lined up to mark the society’s 100-year anniversary.

He urged the leadership of the society to introduce technology into its programs and activities to draw more people, especially the youth, for the continuity and preservation of the society’s legacies.

Speaking earlier, the National President of the Society, Dr. Are Sanni, condemned the get-rich-quick attitude of the youths, which has led them to be involved in cultism, fraud, kidnapping, and money rituals, assuring that the society was ready to work with the government to nip it in the bud.

He said the society in the last 100 years, had through contributions from members, embarked on the provision of education and health facilities as part of its efforts to build an egalitarian society.

Sanni said the visit to the state was to intimate the governor of the programs lined up to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the society and to explore areas of collaboration for the benefit of the people.
