Funke Akindele’s cinematic masterpiece, A Tribe Called Judah, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the highest-grossing Nollywood title of all time.

According to Akindele’s own data, the film has generated an impressive ₦854 million in revenue within just under three weeks of its release.

While the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) initially reported a cumulative gross of just under ₦237 million, their data only considered figures up to the 21st of December, failing to account for the surge in cinema ticket sales during the festive Christmas and New Year holidays.

This significant financial success marks the pinnacle of Funke Akindele’s enduring career, where she has consistently catered to the evolving cinematic tastes of the Nigerian audience.

In an era dominated by international streaming giants with substantial investments in Nollywood, Akindele has strategically maintained her position as a savvy box office operator.

Unlike some filmmakers who prioritize Western appeal, Akindele has stood out by creating content that resonates strongly with Nigerian audiences.
