A Day Old Baby Was Dumped In a Bush in Minna

A day-old baby has been dumped in a bush in Minna, the Niger State Capital.

The baby was found in the bush in the Tayi axis of the city.

Residents in the community said the bay was abandoned by his unknown mother on Saturday evening in the bush.

They said the cry of the baby attracted people who reported to the Niger State child rights agency for upkeep.

The agency had taken to child to the state orphanage home.

Police say they are investigating the incident to track the mother.

According to one of the residents who gave his name as Aliyu Bala Ibrahim, the baby was wrapped in leather and left without clothes on him.

“Ants had started crawling on him before he was found. This is the most tragic scene I’ve ever seen in my life. Capital punishment should be introduced against people who do this.

“The umbilical cord is still attached to the baby. I think he was given birth to a few hours ago. They didn’t even bathe him. They just washed the blood off his body and threw him away,” he said.
