NIMET Predicts Early Onset Of Rainfall This Year In Parts Of The Country

Nigeria Metereological Agency (NIMET) has predicted the earlier onset of rainfall in some parts of the country this year.

Some parts, however, will experience delay in the onset of the rainy season.

Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika made the prediction while launching the  2023 seasonal climate prediction in Abuja

According to the prediction, rain would start earlier in parts of Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Bauchi, Adamawa and Kwara States.

The rain would however start late in parts of Katsina, Kwara, Zamfara, Kano, Jigawa,  Yobe, Imo and Rivers States.

The minister further said the rain is expected to start from early march in the coastal areas of Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom  State and between July and June in Sokoto, Kebi, Zamfara, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe and Borno States.

He added that the early end of the rain is expected over parts 0f Osun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Imo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, eastern parts of Ogun and Lagos States.
