Ogun Seals up Gas Plant Which Exploded, Injured Two at Mowe

Ogun State government has sealed a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant which exploded at Mowe, close to the redemption camp on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Two persons were injured in the explosion on Monday morning but no death was recorded.

Four gas tankers were also destroyed in the fire outbreak in the plant.

Ogun State special duties and inter-governmental affairs commissioner, Mrs. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan announced the seal up of the plant while speaking to newsmen during a visit to the site of the explosion saying the incident would be investigated.

The plant which exploded shortly after 10 am on Monday caused panic in the redemption camp and surrounding communities.

The spokesman of Federal Fire Service in Ogun State, Oluwasegun Ayansiji said the explosion occurred while a tanker loaded with gas was about to offload its products at the plant.

According to him, the gas tanker collided with some of the parked empty gas tankers while attempting to reverse to park and offload its content which led to  explosion at the gas plant.
