Why I Dropped Out of Medical School in My Final Year – Peruzzi

Nigerian singer Peruzzi recently shed light on the reasons behind his decision to drop out of medical school during his final year.

The revelation came during his appearance on the Zero Conditions Podcast, where he candidly discussed the mental exhaustion he experienced while pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery in Ukraine.

Peruzzi openly shared that he reached a point where he felt completely drained and uninterested in continuing his medical studies.

He expressed a deep desire to pursue his passion for music instead. Recounting the pivotal moment, he stated, “I got tired for real, for real.

I never felt like that in my life. I was done, like everything about me, in my head I was done with medicine. And that was when I was about to start my final year, so it was a lot.

I had written my first MD already at the time. It wasn’t about how long I had left at the time; it was about me not wanting to do anything again. I didn’t want to do it anymore.

Having studied at the Odessa National University in Ukraine up to his fifth year, Peruzzi returned to Nigeria due to the overwhelming pressure of medical school.

However, he faced the challenge of breaking the news to his father. The artist disclosed that he confided in his mother, who set a condition for his return.

“I really got tired, my entire being was tired, so I left on the first of January, and I didn’t even have my passport; I had lost it.

So I went to the embassy, and they gave me a travel letter because I needed to leave urgently. When I got back, the only person I told was my mum.

I was able to explain how bad I was feeling, and she said I should make sure to come back with my school result and everything from the first year to show that I was in school, so I did,” Peruzzi explained.

Despite facing challenges, Peruzzi remains unapologetic about his decision to leave medical school. However, he encountered speculation from members of his father’s church, who noticed his presence at home during a non-holiday period, leading to whispers about his dropout.

In essence, Peruzzi’s journey reflects the complex decision-making process and challenges he faced in aligning his career choices with his passion for music, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being in pursuing one’s dreams.
