Victor Osimhen to Surpass Rashidi Yekini’s Goal Scoring Record

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen is confident that he can surpass Rashidi Yekini’s goal scoring record, but he insists that he is not in a competition with the Nigeria legend.

Osimhen scored a hat trick for Nigeria in their 6-0 bashing of Sao Tome and Principe in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers over the weekend.

However, it was not a one-off as the Napoli man has been a consistent goal poacher for the super eagles.

His three-goal haul ensured that he now has 20 goals in 26 games for the Super Eagles, making him the fourth most Prolific Goal Scorer in Super Eagles history.

Osimhen is only three goals behind the records set by Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Segun Odegbami.

Yekini sits atop of the charts with 37 goals.

UK-based football analyst, Dez Footie also said, “Osimhen came into this game 6th on the all-time Nigeria scorer rankings with (17) goals. His hat-trick against São Tomé now means he’s overtaken Martins Ikechukwu, a legend in the making.”

Lagos-based OAP, Chuma Nnoli also said, “A star that shines for club and country. Truly amazing. Greater things are ahead of him. Victor Osimhen is truly special.”
