Ogun Traditional Worshippers Celebrate Isese Cultural Day

Traditional worshipers in Ogun State have celebrated the Isese day for which today’s work free day stands for.

On Sunday, which is the Isese day, traditional worshippers converged at designated locations, offered prayers, performed rituals and organized get-together, wined, dined and danced in their various communities.

In Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, hundreds of traditional worshippers, including Ifa priests, alternative medicine practitioners trekked to the sacred shrine at Oke Abola Prayer Mountain at Oke Aregba.

After praying and performing ritual at the mountain, later converged at the palace of Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.

The Baasegun of Egbaland, Chief Koleoso, speaking at his palace at Oke-Aregba commends Governor Dapo Abiodun for initiating the recognition of Isese day in Yorubaland.

Meanwhile, the Olota of Ota, Oba Prof Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, asked federal government to declared august 20 nationwide as the Isese day.

The monarch said this would promote peaceful co-existence among adherents of all religions and help to showcase the rich cultural and tradition of the country

According to him, the declaration of august 20 as cultural day is crucial because the constitution guarantee the freedom of worship to all Nigerians.
