Ogun To Launch Gas Powered Buses And Electric Powered Bikes In August

Ogun State says it has begun implementing a programme for converting buses to use compressed natural gas, and motorcycles and tricycles to use electricity as alternative fuel to petrol.

Meanwhile the e-mobility and gas mobility involves the conversion of mass transit buses from petroleum fuel to gas and motorcycles (Okada) to electric.

The programmes would take off by the end of this month or in the first week of August.

However, Governor Dapo Abiodun, announced the programme on Monday, while receiving participants of the senior executive course 45,

group one, of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, at the governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Under the programme, the governor said petrol powered motorcycles would be exchanged for electric powered motorcycles.

The governor also said the his admnistration plans to take advantage of the decentralization of the power sector, by establishing a company that would generate and distribute power in the state.

While Speaking earlier, the team leader and the Director of Studies, Prof. (Mrs.) Oluwafunmilayo Para-Mallam,

said the participants are in the state as mandated by the president to research on topical issues of national importance.

She said that Ogun State was selected as the result of it being the industrial capital of the country.

The senior executive course 45 group 1 of the institute is on a one-week study tour of the state.
