Nigeria Crushes Ethiopia 4-0 in 2024 Olympic Qualifiers at Moshood Abiola Stadium

Nigeria humiliated Ethiopia 4-0 in the second leg of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers played on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Asisat Oshoala had the chance to put Nigeria ahead in the 24th-minute one-on-one with the goalkeeper but couldn’t hit the target.

Uchenna Kanu puts Nigeria ahead at the stroke of halftime, after a lofty pass from Oluwatosin Demehin.

Rasheedat Ajibade doubled the advantage for Nigeria in the 50th minute with a precise pass from Oshoala.

Oshoala eventually got her name on the scoresheet with a precise header, eight minutes after the hour mark.

Reigning Africa Women’s footballer of the year, Asisat Oshoala who was only yesterday ranked 20th best on the Ballon D’or Women’s awards list, added a third when she scored with a header from his inside the penalty area for the Super Falcons in the 68th minute.

In the 72nd minute, Oshoala again served Atletico Madrid Femininé forward Rasheedat Ajibade to bag her brace to add gloss to the rout as Nigeria cruised into the final qualifying round with 4-0 win and 5-1 aggregate result over the Lucy’ of Ethiopia.

Ajibade wrapped up the scoring in the 72nd minute with another calm finish having combined well with Oshoala.

With the result, the super falcons are through to the next round of the Olympic Games qualifiers having beaten Ethiopia 5-1 on aggregate.

Justin Madugu and Ann Chiejine took charge of the Falcons in Randy Waldrum’s abscence and will receive commendation for a job well done.

The Super Falcons will now face the aggregate-winner of the Cameroun vs Uganda match for a spot at the Football event of the Paris 2024 Olympic games.
