In a resolute endeavor to vindicate himself from any association with the tragic demise of Mohbad, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, the celebrated artist known by his stage name Naira Marley, has made an unequivocal declaration of his intention to return to Nigeria.
His primary objective upon returning is to actively cooperate with the ongoing investigations being conducted by law enforcement agencies regarding the unfortunate passing of Mohbad.
This assertion by Naira Marley emerges in the wake of persistent scrutiny and public conjecture that had cast a shadow over him during the weeks following the untimely demise of his former protege, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, more commonly known as Mohbad.
Naira Marley chose to convey his message through an official statement posted on his Instagram account, a statement that was made public on the evening of September 26, 2023.
In this comprehensive statement, Naira Marley ardently defends his innocence while decrying the unjust character assassination he has endured since Mohbad’s passing.
He categorically emphasizes that he had no involvement whatsoever in the tragic event, underlining the fact that he had been outside the borders of Nigeria for a substantial period, dating back to August 31, 2023—well before the lamentable incident occurred.
In a poignant excerpt from Naira Marley’s statement, he articulates, “I have been out of the country since the 31st of August 2023, and I’m here to return in light of the police investigation.
I am making arrangements to return to the country to assist the investigation and give my version of events. I am fully cooperating with the police team, and I certainly have no reason to be a fugitive when I have no hand in his death.”
